چکیده

SToMP (Software Teaching of Modular Physics) is a comprehensive software package designed for use in introductory level undergraduate physics. It provides the student with carefully written scripts augmented with activities, simulated experiments, references, glossary, historical material, and media clips which are displayed in an easy-to-use format exploiting the multi-windows computer environment. The material includes selfand assessed-tests for each module and an array of tools (calculator, spreadsheet, grapher etc.) which can be accessed from any point within the package. Two modules have been completed to date: Measurement and Uncertainty, and Waves and Vibrations. Other modules are in various stages ofpreparation. This paper looks at the pedagogic rational for the SToMP system, and discusses modes of integration into existing courses. The system is dynamic, and is able to subsume new developments, some of which are described.

Continuous Motion Planning for Domestic Service Robots with Multiresolution in Time

In this thesis I present an approach to continuous motion planning with multiresolution in time. The approach is based on the motion planning algorithm STOMP by Kalakrishnan et al. and designed to decrease the overall runtime of the efficient optimization algorithm in order to enable frequent replanning. Since domestic service robots operate in household environments with dynamic obstacles, it ...

Continuous Motion Planning for Service Robots with Multiresolution in Time

We present an approach to continuous motion planning with multiresolution in time. Our approach is based on stochastic trajectory optimization for motion planning (STOMP) and designed to decrease the optimization time in order to enable frequent replanning. Since service robots operate in environments with dynamic obstacles, it is likely that planned trajectories become invalid over time. Thus,...

An Architecture for Dynamic Courseware Working on the Web

This paper presents an architecture for creating, retrieving, and adapting materials on the World Wide Web for learning purposes. There are two major components in the architecture: Authoring Server (AS) and Courseware Server (CS). Associated with the architecture for running dynamic courseware, certain mechanisms are also imposed. These mechanisms involve the manipulation of information on som...

Pedagogically-Driven Courseware Content Generation for Intelligent Tutoring Systems

This paper describes a novel approach to adaptive courseware generation. This approach adopts its structure from existing intelligent tutoring systems and introduces a new component called pedagogical scenario model to support pedagogical flexibility in the adaptation process of courseware generation system. The adaptation is carried out using Dynamic Constraint Satisfaction Problem framework, ...

DCG + GTE: Dynamic Courseware Generation with Teaching Expertise

This paper discusses the place of GTE as an approach for bridging the gap between CAL and ITS systems. It presents the DCG, our architecture for dynamic courseware generation which allows dynamic planning of the contents of an instructional course with a given goal. Finally a further development of DCG by combining it with GTE is described which includes explicit representation of generic teach...
